Hi. I’m Bridget.

…and I drink.

Drinking doesn’t define me in the same way nondrinkers are forced to wear their title and I’m pretty excited to dive into that. But first, a little bit about me.

I am a born and raised Wisconsin girl who longs for warm sunny weather 358 days a year. Happy to enjoy snow from Christmas to New Years. I like beer, I like brats, and I don’t like most cheese. So like I said, pretty traditional Wisconsin girl here. Folks should be able to golf year-round, right? Right.

In addition to this venture, I do have a full-time job, you know, to bring home the bacon. Weird that drinking cocktails all week doesn’t pay the mortgage, but I digress. I spend about 50 hours a week doing the paid gig, so that I can spend the rest of the week in search of the greatest places and beverages for our friends of all walks of life.

I come from big families on both sides. “On both sides” – is that common phrasing outside of Wisconsin and the Midwest? Unclear. Anyway, big family, many events. We spend a great deal of time together and much of that time includes beverages. I’ve never wondered what’s in their glasses, probably because I was too ripped to notice. Or, more likely, because its none of my business. Either way. Wisconsin Badger Football games are our jam and the tailgating aspect especially. Seven Saturdays a year, you can find many of us in a parking lot mixing cocktails, eating dips and dancing to songs that become long running staples to our experience. We have an absolute blast and I wouldn’t change a thing…except how I feel on some of those post-game Sundays.

I also have annual vacations over the Fourth of July each year that act as 5 day benders, both sides of my family are pretty committed to partying hard, so I come by it naturally. But, I also consider myself quite lucky. I don’t *need* alcohol, and I don’t crave it. When I’m drunk, I probably get a little too happy and maybe a little too chatty, but I’ve never gotten angry and I’ve never burst into tears. Not everyone in my family is as lucky.

I’m pretty excited to be a part of a platform encouraging a message of meeting people where they’re at. Everyone should have the privilege of being comfortable in any setting, regardless of what is in their glass. There is no one reason why someone may choose to, or not to, have an alcoholic beverage, but in this country, and absolutely in Wisconsin, folks feel owed an explanation if turned down. We’re pretty jazzed to change that narrative, help establishments become more inclusive, and have a stupidly fun time while we do it.

Thanks for coming along for the ride!
