Bridget and I, and our little tag-along Madeline (10yo), visited Everyday Kitchen for dinner on a Tuesday night in August. Madeline and I arrived first and were surprised to have access to underground parking. Fancy. And probably super exciting in the dead of winter. As we found our way to the first floor, I didn’t realize Everyday Kitchen was located in the same building as Lodgic Workplace and Kids Camp. To be honest, I didn’t even know this existed…we don’t get out much. We’ll definitely be checking this shared work space out.

Upon our arrival to Everyday Kitchen, we were greeted quickly by the (super cute if I do say so myself) host and although Bridget had called ahead of time for an outdoor table reservation, the patio was full. A little confused by this, but Madeline was happy to be seated indoors away from the bees (no fault of Everyday Kitchen…bees suck in Wisconsin in August). We asked for a table “away from people” which I explained was not Covid-related but merely because we are obnoxious. We will explain this better next time.

However, being seated in the middle of the establishment has its perks. We were able to take in the extreme attention to design detail; flooring, lighting, tables, chairs, windows, decor. We didn’t feel like we were near the hospitals in Madison; more like an edgy neighborhood in Portland.

Besides the patio being full, which looked lovely by the way, the restaurant was only at about half-capacity, typical for a Tuesday night in August. The crowd was a mixed bag of happy hour goers, young and not-so-young professionals and even a Wisconsin state senator.

Before Bridget arrived, I ordered a Club Soda with a Lime and Madeline a lemonade. Pretty much all reviews will be based on how the CSL comes and Everyday Kitchen hit it out of the park with a nice highball glass and lime garnish. So pretty, right? It really doesn’t take much to make me happy.

Our waitress was downright lovely and never batted an eye at my order from the Zero Proof* menu. She explained that Tuesdays are Burgers and Bourbon days so Bridget was happy about that, however, she found a Rum Old Fashion on the extensive cocktail menu and since it was National Rum day, well, when in Rome.

I tried an untitled art Florida Weiss n/a beer and besides being surprised that it was a Passionfruit beer, it was refreshing, allbeit a little sweet for me. But, it was good enough that I wanted to try another untitled art, so I went with the Juicy IPA and even though in my drinking life I was not a fan of IPAs, Bridget has lovingly reminded me I do like them sans alcohol. Madeline got fancy and also ordered the Blueberry Lemonade from the Zero Proof menu; it was delicious, refreshing and so pretty. The Peach Blossom Boogie caught my eye as the most creative of the mocktails, however, I’m not a peach fan so if you are, you’ll have to tell me how it is!

While we’re not reviewing food here, we should at least tell you what we had to eat and if we liked it, right? Bridget and I are not all that picky about food so reviewing it would be a Good, Bad or Ugly kind of score.

Madeline was thrilled they had $6 buttered noodles on the Kids’ menu {insert eye roll}. Bridget and I pretty much split everything; the Classic burger, Ahi Tuna Pizza (flatbread), Burrata Toast (weird for someone who is lactose intolerant, Bridget. I ate the cheese with a fork. Delish.) and Buffalo Cheese Curd Tempura…that blue cheese dip, yu-um.

All was delicious…even the noodles looked good.

As you can see in the LIVE video above, we spent about 20 minutes with two phones on tripods (remember I said obnoxious) talking to ourselves. Our sweet waitress put our trays of food where she could and did her best not to interrupt, not that we cared. After we were done with our “broadcast” she was nice enough to ask and then seemed to be genuinely excited about our mission to find places that welcome drinkers and non-drinkers alike. Just like Everyday Kitchen.

Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our experience. The staff was amazing, ambiance lovely, mocktail menu existent and extensive, as was the cocktail menu, and food was delish. We wish we could have remembered our waitress’s name; top-notch.

We will be returning with friends and definitely checking out Lodgic workspace. If you try out Everyday Kitchen, tell them Mocks & Cocks sent you!

*We’re so interested in the “name” of the mocktail/non-alcohol menu.
